In March 2005, the UCSF Police Department
initiated the process to become accredited with the Commission
on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
CALEA is a nationally recognized
organization with a goal of improving law enforcement by
providing standards covering a wide range of up-to-date law
enforcement topics.
Accredited police departments must conform
to CALEA standards governing policy and procedures, management,
operations and support services.
